Chiropractic is based on the understanding that our
bodies are in a continuous state of healing. This healing is directed by the
central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). This is the focus of the Chiropractor;
to make sure the communication is open from the brain to the body and from
the body back to the brain. We detect spine subluxations* which can hinder
these communications.
Chiropractic is a drugless profession. Drugs can sometimes cover symptoms and
mask the problem so the patient "feels" good. Meanwhile, the disease
processes continue for years until finally the chances of recovery without
surgery may be limited. Symptoms, such as pain, occur for a reason. If we cover
the symptoms with drugs we cannot always get to the underlying cause.
Chiropractic uses specific osseous adjustments to align the vertebrae and remove
interference. This is accomplished in a variety of ways and is usually not
only painless, but often feels good. The result is a healthier better working
body.
Chiropractors do not treat diseases. We simply detect and correct subluxations.
Subluxations can cause disease. Removing subluxations will allow the body to
work better.
*Subluxation (sub''luk-sa'shun) - Any vertebrae which has lost its proper juxta-position
with the bone above, below, or both, which impinges on a nerve and interferes
with nervous impulses.
